After obtaining his Ph.D.
from Bilkent's Department of Economics in 1995, he joined the department
as a faculty member, serving as an assistant professor from 1995-2003.
He was appointed Vice Governor of the Central Bank on October 9, 2003.
Dr. Başçı's research and
teaching areas are monetary economics, financial economics,
macroeconomic theory and mathematical economics. His academic papers
have been published in the Oxford Economic Papers, the Journal of
Banking and Finance, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and
the Journal of Mathematical Economics. Besides his contributions to the
literature in the area of economic theory, Dr. Başçı has also published
articles on the subject of the Turkish economy.
