The Silk Road Investment Challenge! Turkey-US-China

Newcomers to the world's financial markets from Turkey, the US, and China are invited to have fun while learning about investing by using a fictional investment account at Stock-Trak, a web-based portfolio simulation. The "Silk Road Challenge" competition is being sponsored by Bilkent University, the Turkish-American Association, TurkishEnglish.com and Stock-Trak, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Investors may participate as individuals or as teams, and there will be a $250 prize for the investor/investment team with the best results over 10 weeks of investing. The competition is already underway, but investors can enter and begin their 10-week investment period at any time up to May 5.

Dr. Mark Peterson, a visiting Fulbright Scholar at Bilkent University this semester, is directing the Silk Road Investment Challenge. Friends of Bilkent University, the University of Science and Technology Beijing, TurkishEnglish.com, the Turkish-American Association, the US Embassy in Ankara and the DODDS School are invited to compete, with no registration fee! Investors of all ages are welcome, and the formation of cross-cultural teams is especially encouraged, in the interest of promoting friendship.

All trading is done at www.stocktrak.com. Weekly ranking reports from Stock-Trak serve as a fun and powerful incentive for competition participants. Teams are able to compare their results with those of other teams from Turkey, the US and China. Leading the way as investors are student teams from Bilkent University and the University of Science and Technology Beijing.

To enter, please contact Dr. Mark Peterson at peterson@bilkent.edu.tr
