THE VOICE

FYI (FOR YOUR INFORMATION)

We're now in the eighth week of the term and after the spring break will have only eight weeks left to go. So, this semester is half over. And now we've started to wait impatiently for the break, just to have a couple of days of holiday and, in the case of some of us, to catch up with our coursework.

There are lots of things to do between March 24 and April 3. If you're interested in movies and will be staying in Ankara, you could catch the last two days of the 17. Ankara Film Festival, which started on the 16th of this month and will run through the 26th. The festival has several categories of films to enjoy: documentaries, shorts, and Turkish and international feature films. The festival also includes a concert at Saklıkent on the 22nd. For more information and the movie schedule, you can check the festival's website at: http://www.filmfestankara.org.tr

Also in Ankara, there will be about twelve different concerts that you can go to. You probably won't be interested in all of them, but I'm sure that at least a couple of them would be enjoyable for everyone.

At the movie theatres, there will be lots of new films to see, including "Capote," "Brokeback Mountain" and "The Pink Panther":) If you're thinking of going to İstanbul, there are lots of plays, concerts and shows that might be interesting. I checked the Biletix website, and there are some excellent things to attend. If you want to go somewhere outside of Ankara, I strongly suggest that you take a look at http://www.biletix.com/ and plan a couple of days of cultural activities.

And if you're tired of big cities, you could go somewhere quiet. Resort towns like Bodrum and Çesme will probably be very quiet, so if you wanted to, you could see these places without the summertime crowds, and at a low price. Besides these summer resorts, you could find other great places to visit by doing a little research on the internet. There are lots of wonders in our country that are waiting for us to explore them, and this time out from school would allow you to spend a couple of days discovering one of them.

So, I hope you enjoy your spring break, and don’t forget to study while having fun :)
