The Community Service Project, operating under the Office of the Dean of
Students, is looking for volunteer students to take part in community projects during this
year. There will be an Introductory Meeting followed by cocktails on September 21,
between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., in the Faculty of Economics,
Administrative and Social Sciences
C-Block Auditorium. All who would like to receive detailed information on voluntary
community work and would like to join the Community Service Project are invited to attend.
Last year there were over 350 students who volunteered for these projects and
approximately 92 hours of volunteering took place each week. The students were all happy
with the time they spent volunteering. "I find it rewarding to go out and take action
instead of just talking about the matter," said Beren Erdem (MAN/IV). She added:
"It changes a person to see how much these people need you."
Another student volunteer, Nezihe Yamak (ECON/IV) said about the children she worked with:
"We broadened their horizons by giving them classes during the weekend and taking
them to the movies and even taking them to eat fast food. They appreciate the things we
take for granted."
If you would you like to make a difference, please contact Ms. Sena Özel at the Dean of
Students Office at ext.1550.
