Classical Guitar Student to Study at Juilliard

Kazım Çokoğullu, a student in his last year studying classical guitar in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, has been accepted at two of the most prestigious music schools in the world, The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Both schools offered Çokoğullu the opportunity to study with a full scholarship - both of which are rarely offered. The guitar instructor and world famous guitarist Sharon Isbin, said that Çokoğullu has a fluent and excellent technique, his energy is very high and additionally, he is a great performer of Rodrigo, Villa-Lobos and Piazzola. Furthermore, the music instructor at the Manhattan School of Music, David Leisner, mentioned that Çokoğullu is the best of the 33 applicants. Leisner also said that Çokoğullu has an influential playing style, artistic stand and excellent technical control.

Çokoğullu will graduate from the class of Classical Guitar in the faculty of Music and Performing Arts under the instruction of Kağan Korad this semester and has chosen to pursue his master's degree at The Juilliard School.
