News from the Library

We have some good news about the library! First of all, we are launching our own newsletter which will provide information about our activities and facilities; the first issue will be available by the end of May and can be downloaded from our web site. In addition, we are currently improving our web site and hopefully, it will be up and running by the start of Fall Semester 2007-08. We await your comments and suggestions on how we can make the site more effective both in the services it provides as well as its visual layout. In the next few weeks, we will be installing 45 new computers for our users, many with Internet access, so that searching will be easier and more enjoyable.

The Bilkent University Library Art Gallery will host an exhibition of paintings by the artist Aysun Eskil between June 7 and 20. Please come along and enjoy her works of art. For the next few weeks, in our book exhibitions at the entrance to the library, we will be highlighting environmental issues. Between May 28 and June 3, we will arrange an exhibit of books relating to Global Warming, and in the following week we will celebrate World Environment Day (June 4). Let's work together to preserve the world we all live in!

Also, in order to facilitate your studies and research, the Bilkent Library is hosting a number of trials of online databases, which are currently available and will continue into the summer months. These include "Philosophy Compass" (on trial until June 24, 2007), "Literature Compass" (until July 4), "History Compass" (until July 4), and "Beck-Online: Die Datenbank" (until June 30). As usual, we are waiting for your feedback about the value of these databases.

And students! Please don't forget that you can borrow up to 5 books at any one time during the summer vacation (due-date 25 September). However, this does not mean that you should not come to the Library during the summer: we are always here and you are always welcome!
Have a nice vacation!

Tijen Gençaslan and Şelale Korkut (Bilkent University Library)
