 Anooshirvan M. Miandji, a part-time instructor in Persian in the Department of History, took first place in Kanal D's 6th regional edition of the Turkish version of "American Inventor" (Abbas Güçlü ile Bizim Mucitler). The competition was held at Atatürk University in Erzurum on May 23rd, 2007. Mr. Miandji, from Iran, is working on his MSc in Medicinal Chemistry. He entered his patented "medication reminder system" into the competition and won first prize of 10,000 YTL. The program started with a list of over three thousand candidates, and eliminated inventors during seven stages of live television broadcasts. Besides teaching at Bilkent, Mr. Miandji is a free-lance linguist and has published dictionaries and language books in Persian, Turkish and English in the U.S., Turkey and Iran.
