HidromoBilkent's Hydro Mobile Passes the Test!

HidromoBilkent did a superb job representing Bilkent University in the first ever Hydro Mobile competition organized by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey).

Hydrogen is an alternative energy resource with tremendous potential. It is not commonly used, however, because hydrogen costs so much to produce and store. If these challenges can be addressed, hydrogen would become the most efficient energy source available. The goal of the TÜBİTAK competition, held in July 2007, was to increase interest in alternative energy resources. What better way to get people excited than to have hydrogen powered cars race against one another?

HidromoBilkent made it through the semi-finals for a chance to compete in the finals! The team was pleased with the results, ranking 12th out of 23 competitors. Those who want to see the impressive looking HidromoBilkent Hydro Mobile can stop by the entrance of the EA Building.

Congratulations to the entire HidromoBilkent Team, comprised of Asst. Prof. Emrah Özensoy (Academic Advisor), Hızır Pense (Meteksan, Mechanical Advisor), Hüseyin Toptan (Tepe Betopan, Mecnanics and Production), Efe Sırımoğlu (EE/III), Kemal Davaslıoğlu (EE/III), Yaprak Ayazoğlu (EE/IV), Cemil Temiz (MAN/II), Atıf Emre Demet (CHEM/I), Seyed Hesamoddin Nabavi (PHYS/I), Özgür Kazar (EE/III) and Sarp Namıkoğlu (EE/IV).

The event will be held again in 2008. The team would love to see Bilkent students out in full force cheering on their driver.
