Sports and Exercise = A Healthy Life Style!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to new and returning Bilkent students! My hope is that everyone has a healthy and successful academic year.

Being at Bilkent is a special experience, and sports and exercise can help make it even more enjoyable. Plus, it's good for your health. The Physical Education and Sports Center offers a wide range of programs held in world-class sports facilities. We offer three multi purpose sports halls, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and several mini and grass football fields! Our Student Dormitories Sports Hall is one of the best sports facilities in the country. There you will find a state of the art fitness center with top-notch exercise equipment. There are squash courts, regulation size basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor running track, two aerobic-step and multi purpose studios, a table tennis room, and to keep your items safe while enjoying the facilities - locker rooms.

Why are Exercise and Sports so important?

There are hundreds of reasons why it is so important for you to participate in sports and exercise programs while at Bilkent. Here are just a few examples:

  • You can improve and maintain your athletic performance.
  • It will help you stay fit.
  • Your body weight and blood pressure can be kept under control.
  • It can reduce the risk of heart disease, both now and in the future.
  • Good cholesterol (HDL) is increased, while bad cholesterol (LDL) is decreased.
  • You will find that it will help you manage stress.
  • Your energy levels can be given a boost.
  • Meeting new friends is part of the fun.
  • It's a great way to relieve boredom.
  • Overall quality of life is improved.

So, it could be said that fitness can add life to one's years, not just years to one's life!

Become involved in our wide array of sports programs! Be sure to use our incredible sports facilities and make the most of your time at Bilkent University. Sports and exercise might just be your key to success!
