Prof. Eros Corazza from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, will visit Bilkent, February 18 to 21. The leading philosopher of language, with significant publications to his credit, will give two talks. "On Points of View" will be presented at 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, and "Situationalism vs. Free Enrichment" can be heard Thursday, February 21. Both events take place in room G-160.
"On Points of View" has been written to appeal to a broad audience. "Points of view play such an important role in our everyday life that we often fail to notice their significance. They take center stage, for instance, when we interpret other people's actions and utterances. Points of view also help us to explain many context-sensitive features of our utterances. A point of view will be characterized as an egocentric perspective from which one engages in an action and entertains a thought."
