NEW ACTIVITIES ADDED THIS YEAR:

KARATE - DO: A Challenge Worth Taking!

Karate-Do is a form of traditional martial arts. It is commonly thought of as a way to defend oneself from attack. Although self-defense skills are included in the training, the Karate-Do experience offers much more.

There are many styles and systems of Karate-Do. It has a long tradition, and at the core is the development of the individual through group training. It has the potential to improve health, and provide an understanding of yourself and your relationships with others. It is an excellent tool that can be used to help you become the best you can be in every area of your life.

Make a change for the better with Karate-Do. This course will be held Fridays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Student Dormitories Sports Hall.

ORIENTEERING: Helping You Go Places!

Orienteering is a sport that combines your mental and physical abilities. It has been described as "chess being played while running." It is different from many other sports because there is no leader to follow or an assigned racecourse. There are many different ways to get from the starting point to the finishing line. Participants have to choose the best path to complete the course in the least amount of time. They must take in to account their own abilities, while considering the abilities of their competitors and the qualities of the terrain. The differences in the competitors' physical abilities are not as important as you may think, and are nearly equal at the beginning of the competition. This makes it a perfect sport for almost anyone!

For more information on how you can take part in Orienteering, please call ext. 1993.
