Three Good Reasons to Read for Three Hours

readingLast week, the Bilkent Toplumsal Duyarlılık Projeleri Toplum Gönüllüleri organized a reading event on campus. For three hours, students and volunteers hung out around the fountain in front of the science buildings to support a few important causes. The first, and most obvious, was to promote reading, which many of us don't do enough unless it's for school. The second reason was to celebrate Library Week. Finally, and perhaps the most important reason, was to support the Demiryolu Hattı Destek Projesi. The project will take place around April 23. For three days, volunteers will stay in villages just off of the train tracks in the Ankara area, offer help to students and teachers, and help schools with their physical needs, like building libraries. In the upcoming weeks, there will be opportunities for you to help by donating books at stands set up around campus. Bilkent News will carry details, or you can email k_cetin@ug.bilkent.edu.tr
