The Bilkent Molecular Biology and Genetics Club (BİLGENT) hosted an international conference entitled "Horizons in Molecular Biology and Genetics," May 1 and 2. BİLGENT's aim is to gather undergraduate students, graduate students, and researchers focused on molecular biology and genetics, to learn about the latest advances and progress in the field. Eight guests came to Bilkent to meet with the scientific community in Turkey and present their recent studies.
Invited speakers were Didier Devys (IGBMC, France); Georges Diallinas (Univ. of Athens, Greece); Angela Giangrande (IGBMC, France); Ali O. Güre (Bilkent Univ., Turkey); Valerio Orlando (IGB-CNR, Italy); Marina Rodnina (Max Planck Inst., Germany); Uygar
H. Tazebay (Bilkent Univ., Turkey) and İbrahim Yaman (TÜBİTAK-MAM, Turkey).
The topics of the presentations were diverse and reflected the latest trends in molecular biology and genetics. BİLGENT plans to turn the conference into an annual Bilkent tradition, in addition to holding its monthly popular science conferences.
