Industrial Engineering Senior Projects
Compete at Project Fair

The Industrial Engineering Project Fair and Competition took place on Friday, May 16, in the Mithat Çoruh Auditorium. Fourth year IE students were required to develop an implementable project in cooperation with corporate sponsors. These projects introduce students to the issues faced by the Turkish industrial sector. Among the guests were Minister of Industry and Trade, Zafer Çağlayan, and Ankara Chamber of Industry Chairman, Nurettin Özdebir.

ieDuring the fair, eight groups presented their projects in detail. Senior IE students also introduced their work, setting up information stands along with posters they had prepared. All fair participants had a chance to vote on the posters. The winning group for the poster session was the "Coca Cola: Vending Machine Location and Service System Design Project." For the project competition, "Benli Recycling: Residential Waste Collection Network Design and Improvement in Recycling Processes Project" ranked first, the "THY: Material Requirements Planning of Boeing 730-800 Check Up Materials, Design and Implementation Project" came second, while the "Proctor and Gamble: Distribution Network Design for 2010" took third. The "TURKCELL: Development of Marketing Strategies for 3G Broadband Internet Services Project" was awarded an honorable mention

The event was especially exciting for the senior students because it is one of the last events of their undergraduate academic life at Bilkent. It was exhausting, but in the end, a great experience.
