The LÖSEV School for Children with Leukemia began holding classes in 2009 in the Angora Evleri in Beysukent. There are more than 100 students in the school, which provides instruction for kindergarten students between the ages of 5 and 6, elementary students between the ages of 6 and 12 and high school students between the ages of 12 and 18. All of the children's needs, such as pencils, books, school bags, uniforms and even transportation are provided by LÖSEV. In order to contribute to the
socio-cultural development of the children, activities such as theater, cinema and other field trips take place.
As volunteers, Bilkent students Barış Ak (THM), B.Nihat Tanık (THM), Mert Ergörün (MAN) and C.Onur Uyanık (IR) are trying to help the students in this school by teaching them computer skills, chess, and giving tutorials in English. For the last two months, they have been working with 50 students on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They began teaching after an interview with the school manager, and feel pleased that they can help. LÖSEV depends on donations to assist in the education of children with leukemia. The organization also supports research aimed to cure the disease. Donation boxes can be found throughout the city, including Bilkent Center. You can also visit their website at www.losev.org.tr for more information.
