The majority of Social Awareness Projects (TDP-Toplumsal Duyarlýlýk Projeleri) have begun their activities for first semester of the 2008-2009 academic year. The first week's activities proved constructive for both volunteers and target groups. The new volunteers were very eager to be involved and said that they were happy to take part. The projects that started include:
GEP (Gönüllü Eðitim Projesi)
This Volunteer Education Project is the most popular organization within TDP, with approximately one hundred volunteers visiting seven schools: Mamak ÝÖO; Mehmet Yetkin ÝÖO; Þehit Cihan Yýldýz ÝÖO; Polis Amca ÝÖO; Gaziosmanpaþa ÝÖO; Nedim Ýnal ÝÖO and Bucuk ÝÖO.
YYP (Yetiþtirme Yurtlarý Projesi)
This organization was started to provide education to orphanage residences through interactive games. YYP goes to Keçiören Orphanage with its fifty-three volunteers.
MEP (Manevi Evlat Projesi)
This project provides seniors with a chance to share their experience with a new generation and tell their life stories. It is relaxing for the small group of volunteers who go to rest homes and listen to seniors' stories, problems and advice.
UPDP (Üniversite Personeline Destek Projesi)
This project provides educational and social support to children of Bilkent University support and technical staff members. Sixty-eight volunteers provide non-academic instruction to one hundred and ninety children, and is held in the Student Council building.
