New Books by Bilkent Professors

Sübidey ToganProf. Togan Published New Book on Economic Liberalization
Routledge has published in April 2010 a new book by Sübidey Togan, Professor of Economics and Director of Center for International Economics, entitled Economic Liberalization and Turkey, featuring the impact of economic liberalization in Turkey and Turkey's approach to the elimination of trade barriers. The 336 pages book focuses on the liberalization of trade in Turkey's agricultural and industrial commodities sector and key services such as telecommunications, electricity, natural gas, banking and transport.

The chapters include thorough discussions on WTO and EU approaches for the elimination of barriers to trade, international and EU rules and regulations in the various service sectors, and the methods for estimating the tariff equivalents of barriers to trade in the different service sectors as well as methods for estimating the benefits of liberalizing services for Turkey.

Prof. Togan's recent publications include (as co-editor) Macroeconomic Policies for EU Accession; Turkey: Economic Reform and Accession to the European Union and Turkey and Central and Eastern European Countries in Transition: Towards Membership of the EU.

Sübidey ToganDemocratization and the Politics of Constitution Making in Turkey by Prof. Özbudun
Ergun Özbudun, Professor of Political Science and Constitutional Law, and Director of Center for Studies in Society and Politics, publishes a new book together with Prof. Ömer Faruk Gençkaya from Marmara University, entitled Democratization and the Politics of Constitution Making in Turkey.

Published by Došan Kitap, the 144-page book explores and illustrates how domestic and international factors shape the direction of the democratization process with special reference to the constitution making process in the Turkish context.
