Phoenix Publishing House has recently published a book entitled "Nâzım Hikmet ve Sömürgecilik Karşıtlığının Poetikası" (Nâzım Hikmet and the Poetics of Anti-Colonialism) by Öykü Terzioğlu, who is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Turkish Literature. The book is based on Terzioğlu's master's thesis.
In her book, Terzioğlu discusses the dynamics between form and content in Nâzım Hikmet's anti-colonialist narrative poems (published between 1929 and 1935) from the theoretical perspective of his Soviet contemporary, Mikhail Bakhtin. Terzioğlu asserts that these poems by Nâzım Hikmet are "novelized." As such, they represent the clashing voices of the colonizers and the colonized, as well as the symbolical revolution of the colonized peoples.
