Prof. R. Stanley Williams delivered a lecture on “Memristors Devices based on Electroformed Titanium Dioxide” in Mithat Çoruh Auditorium for the Chemistry Department of Bilkent on October 25-27. He is Senior Fellow and the Director of the Information & Quantum Systems of the Hewlett Packard Research Laboratories in the United States .
The Memristor (short for Memory Resistor) is the 4th fundamental element, the other three being the Resistor, Capacitor and Inductor on which the electrical circuts are based. Although the existence of the Memristor was postulated in 1971 by Leon Chou, it was only realized last year by Williams and coworkers. Their findings were published in the prestigious journal Nature, Vol. 453, pp 80-83, 2008, with the title “The missing memristor found.” |
