010 has been kind of disappointing year for music sector. We waited so long for albums of the bands such as Goldfrapp, Röyksopp, Blonde Redhead, Interpol, and MGMT, but tastes of them are not like exactly we expected, so I want to present some different options and reissues to replace the albums and bands that can be missed. These albums are debut of these bands so check out the albums that may be overlooked.
I Am Arrows, Sun Comes Up Again
Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows created his own band, I Am Arrows. The band consists of Andy Burrows (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Adam Chetwood (guitar), Nick Hill (guitar), Ben Burrows (bass), and Adam Chetwood (drums). Their sound is kind of a mix of indie and '70s pop. The songs are melodic, and the lyrics are above of the average. Sun Comes Up Again ranked as number 38 in the UK albums this year.
Key Songs: “The US,” “So Long Ago,” “No Wonder.”
Tired Pony, The Place We Ran From
Tired Pony is a band that consists of the members from Snow Patrol, R.E.M, Belle & Sebastian, Editors, The Minus 5, and Young Fresh. It is a kind of band created by stars. The Place We Ran From features 10 songs, adding up to a record of real resonance and cohesion. As understandable, the songs are different from each other. Each track is another story but sound of the band is pretty good.
Key Songs: “Get On The Road,” “Dead American Writers,” “The Good Book.”
Sleigh Bells, Treats
Brooklyn's New Yorker duo consists of Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss. Sleigh Bells is a New Age pop band. They are mentioned as next The Ting Tings or Crystal Castles. Derek Miller describes their sound: "There is so much depressing s**t out there, we were just sick of it. We are not depressive types, sitting in our bedrooms, crying. We are generally happy, well-balanced, and excited. And I guess that's reflected in the music."
Key Songs: “Tell Em,” “Rill Rill,” “Riot Rhythm.”
Hurts, Happiness
Hurts is new band composed of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson. It is a new band whose first single was overrated. Although they have been badly criticized, they deserved to be heard. They are are a well-scrubbed electro pop pair with slicked back hair, linen suits, and good looks. If you are fan of Depeche Mode or Take That, you will like Hurts, too.
Key Songs: “Wonderful Life,” “Better Than Love,” “Stay.”
