Renowned Folklorist Joins Department of Turkish Literature

ILHAN BASGOZ Dr. İlhan Başgöz, Professor Emeritus from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, has joined the Faculty of the Department of Turkish Literature as a Guest Lecturer for the Spring Semester '99. One of the two courses that he will teach during the Spring Semester is EDEB 420, Turkish Literature Alive (Yaşayan Türk Edebiyatı), and it is open as an elective to all undergraduate students. The second course is EDEB 414, Introduction to Turkish Folk Literature (Türk Halk Edebiyatına Giriş). This is a required course for the Department's graduate students only. Both courses will be taught in Turkish.

As the author of many books and other publications on Turkish folklore, Prof. Başgöz is an internationally renowned scholar in the field of folklore.
