DOST Conquers Hasan Dağı on Holiday Hike
|
DOST didn't take a break during semester holiday. Two DOST members, Burak Galip Akkurt and Kerim Savran, went to climb Hasan DaÛİ accompanied by Murat Yıldırım, a former Mountaineering Federation trainer, Nurettin Özkaya, a mountaineer from Eskişehir and Aydın Ortak, the sponsor of our activity. It was planned as an Alpinist activity. At about 2 a.m. on January 16 we departed from Ankara and at 10:30 a.m. we started ascending from the base camp location. It took two hours to reach the summit on a moderate slope after reaching the summit ridge. Even though it was cloudy and there was snow, it was still warm. The route up to summit was challenging not only because we walked blindly but also because of the huge mass of Hasan Dağı (3298m). However, the challenge was very refreshing for all of us since it helped us get rid of all the stress built up during the semester. While coming down the mountain we encountered a training group from Ankara University.
After chatting a while and sharing the hot tea, we left them at the mountain and hit the road home.
