There Should be No Such Thing as a Free Ride
Dear Bilkent News,

Coming in on the service bus from town, I wonder about those people (and there always seems to be a handful) who get off at the Bilkent entrance gate. I'm not talking about those visitors who hand in their ID and get back on the bus, I'm talking about those who just simply get off.

I wonder about these people because if they are not part of the Bilkent community, and you consider that they would normally have to pay for a dolmuş or taxi, then that means they are literally getting a "free ride". The fact that the service busses can be exploited like this should, in itself, be upsetting to the Bilkent administration. However, what is even more upsetting is that these seats could be used by legitimate Bilkent community members or visitors. Like all service bus users, I myself have been unable to board more than one bus because it was full. If there were no "free riders," perhaps this would have less often. My solution: check for Bilkent IDs at the pick-up point (Tunus, Sıhhiye, National Library, etc). That way, there could never be any "free riders."
