LETTER
Free-Loading Riders May Be Unavoidable

While I share Christopher's annoyance at Bilkent services being used as a free ride to Real, I can't see any realistic way to stop it. Checking ID cards in town seems a good solution at first sight, but in reality this would also prevent legitimate visitors, such as guests of students and faculty members or students/academics who use the Bilkent library, from using the services. We cannot seriously expect bus drivers to keep an eagle eye on non-Bilkent passengers to make sure they get back on the bus at the security gate.

Perhaps Real should provide its own service buses. This would increase their customer base and might also relieve congestion in and around Bilkent Center. I hardly ever take my car there any more because the stress of negotiating the car park is likely to shorten my life expectancy. In fact, one of the people Christopher saw getting off the bus at the security gate might have been me!
