Prof. Güvenen Elected to
European Academy of Arts and Sciences
Professor Orhan Güvenen was recently elected to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, an organization of respected scholars from across Europe. Founded in Salzburg, Austria, in 1990, the Academy has more than 1,000 members.

Reflecting on his election, Professor Güvenen stressed the growing importance of international cooperation in the modern world. "I believe that in our time everyone should be able to say I am a citizen of this particular country, but I am also a citizen of the world."

Professor Güvenen, who is a member of Bilkent's Economics Department, is currently serving as Undersecretary of the Turkish State Planning Organization and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome.
