One of Life's Most Important Lessons - Respect
Respecting, loving, and caring for human beings merely because of their humanity is an expression of genuine respect. Loving a person just because he or she shares similar ideas does not indicate sincere and humane respect. It is only an illustration of selfishness and self-love.

People who live and walk in the same circles - maybe shoulder to shoulder - can become alien to each other. This is also true for Bilkent. It is not necessary to be a sociologist to observe that some Bilkent students show scorn towards others even though they share common points, at the very least the environment at Bilkent. Respect for others' personality, beliefs, and rights should be shown by all Bilkent students. In every walk of life, beings deprived of this consciousness have negative relationships. For instance, at our university bus stops, while students wait for the bus some others appear all of a sudden and try to snatch a space by ignoring the queue. What makes me nervous is the smiles of those people, acting as if they did a marvellous thing. Also, some people try to scare women or grab their books and other belongings - more disgusting behavior. Unfortunately, we also see such behavior on campus. Hey, Bilkent, let's try to respect each other more!
