News From the Clubs at Bilkent

Yeni Ufuklar
To Hold Contest
for the Republic

As we get closer to the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, Yeni Ufuklar wants to know how Bilkent students feel about this important event and what role they see for themselves in their country.

Therefore, we are organizing a contest to come up with the best motto (slogan) for the 75th anniversary. We are looking for a slogan that brings together ideas about our Republic and us, the coming representatives of Turkey.

Send us your slogans through e-mail at our homepage: www.ug.bcc.bilkent.edu.tr/~yuk. The deadline is Tuesday, October 27. The winning motto will be announced in the Bilkent News and the winner will receive special presents.

See you in the new horizons of Yeni Ufuklar.

Student Clubs Plan Displays

Bilkent's student clubs will hold a membership fair Tuesday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (FEASS) building.

The clubs are expected to staff displays and explain their activities to all interested students.

All are welcome to join one or more of these interesting social activity clubs.

Folklore Club to Hold Meeting:

The Folklore Club (Halk Bilimleri Topluluğu) encourages all interested students to attend its meeting
on Wednesday, October 7, at 6 p.m.
in room Z-24 of the Student Union Building.

We welcome new members.

Chess Club Ready for October

The Chess Club, the only organization at Bilkent University that represents this brilliant game, is ready for October after having a busy September. During September, two chess-playing sessions a week were held as advertised in posters we put up across the campus.

For October, the Chess Club hopes to continue the sessions as often as possible, to hold the fourth traditional tournament at Bilkent and to host Ankara universities for a inter-university tournament. The active and successful history of the Chess Club shows these hopes will likely become reality.
