In addition to the Bilkent University students,faculty and administrative staff, many students and faculty from other Ankara Universities participated in these events on Bilkent Campus.

The sports competitions took place on the main and east campus sports facilities. Participants enjoyed being a part of these special events and everyone got a special t-shirt as a memento of the 75 th Anniversary of the Republic.

Inter-University Sports Competitions

Students Soccer (Futbol) Tournament: Nearly 130 students from Başkent, Bilkent, METU, Hacettepe, Gazi, Çankaya, and Police Academy participated in this event. The winners are: Police Academy (1st place ), Gazi University (2nd place ), and Bilkent University (3rd place)

Faculty Soccer (Futbol) Tournament: Nearly 60 academic personnel from participating universities joined this event. The winners are: Hacettepe University (1st place), Bilkent University (2nd place), and METU (3rd place).

Students Basketball Tournament: Nearly 72 students from participating universities joined this event. The winners are: METU (1st place), Hacettepe University (2nd place), Gazi University (3rd place).

Students (Women) Volleyball Tournament: Nearly 36 students from Bilkent University, Gazi, and Hacettepe participated in this event. The winners are Gazi University (1st place), Bilkent University (2nd place), Hacettepe University (3rd place).

Students Table Tennis Tournament: Nearly 40 students from participating universities competed in this event. The winners are:
Men: Bilkent University (1st place), Military School (2nd place), Hacettepe University (3rd place).
Women: Bilkent University (1st place), METU (2nd place).

Students Badminton Tournament: Nearly 40 students from participating universities joined this event.
Ladies singles winners are:
1st place: Ayşegül Yapıcı (Hacettepe University)
2nd place: Nurcan Demir (Hacettepe University)
3rd place: Hidayet Halilbeyoglu (Bilkent University)

Bilkent University Faculty-Students Grass Football Tournament: Nearly 144 students from various departments and faculties participated in a four-week challenge. All games were played on the east and main campus grass fields. Students enjoyed representing and playing for their faculties. The winners are :
1st place: Red Devils (School of English Languages)
2nd place: Göç Yavruları (School of Applied Languages)
3rd place: Yakuzas (Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences)

Republic Day Run '98

On a beautiful Saturday morning, on October 24, nearly 350 people (students, faculty, staff and their families) participated in the Republic Day Run. The Rector Professor Ali Doğramacı gave a start to the run in front of the East Campus Sports Hall. Award ceremonies took place on the Main Campus Physical Education and Sports Center. Every participant was given a t-shirt as a memento of the day. Thanks to all participants, the organizers, and the volunteers who brought muffins and cookies for the participants. We hope to see a bigger crowd in the Spring Run.
