Bilkent Faculty Proves Excellence
Recently four academicians from Bilkent University have been announced as the recipients of TÜBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences) and TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey) awards.

TÜBİTAK Science Award will be given to Dr. Haldun Özaktaş, Professor of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Özaktaş received his PhD. from Standford University in the USA and joined Bilkent in 1991. Dr. Özaktaş has made contriburions to several areas of optical information processing.
TÜBİTAK Young Investigators Award will be given to Associate Prof. Dr. Orhan Aytür, who is also at Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University. Dr. Aytür received his PhD in electrical engineering from Northwestern University and has been at Bilkent since 1993. His research interests include nonlinear optics, quantun optics, and lasers.
Prof. Talat S. Halman has been announced as TÜBA Service Award recipent for his contribution toward enchanching the recognition of Turkish Literature in overseas and Turkey. Prof. Halman, the chair of the Department of Turkish Literature was the first Minister of Culture of Turkey.
Dr. Mehmet Baç will receive the TÜBA Young Investigators Award for the quality of his recognized research in microeconomics. Dr. Baç is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics Administrative and Social Sciences at Bilkent. His area of interest is microeconomics theory.
