Dr. Ergin Atalar, and Dr. Ogan Ocalý who received their in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, inventes a tiny MRI probe at Johns Hopkins University in the USA. Dr. Atalar is currently Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University.
The miniaturized "endo-esophageal MRI coil" can be used by doctors to view the esophagus and the aorta, the body's largest artery. The Associated Press announced that the government has approved the sale of the tiny MRI probe that doctors can thread into a patient's throat to provide extra-clear images from inside-the-body instead of the standard outside-the body version of the MRI. The next step is to create even tinier versions to view the other parts of the body.
