His Majesty King Abdullah bin al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, will be presented with an honorary doctorate by Bilkent University during a ceremony at the Concert Hall on March 7 at 5 p.m.
His Majesty assumed power as the constitutional leader of his country on February 7, 1999, the day his father, the late King Hussein, passed away. King Abdullah II received the first part of his education at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, and then attended Oxford University in 1984 to study International Politics and World Affairs. King Abdullah II also has an M.Sc. from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington.
In addition to his educational qualifications, King Abdullah II is a Cobra helicopter pilot, free-fall parachutist, race car driver, and scuba diver.
His Majesty has been married to Queen Rania since 1993. They have a 6-year-old son, Prince al-Hussein, and a four-year-old daughter, Princess Iman.
