Calendar for Student Union Elections
On March 8, the Election Board announced the following calendar for elections to the Student Executive Committee and the Student Union.

March 20-23 (Monday, 9 a.m.-Thursday, 5 p.m.):
Candidates for the Student Executive Committees fill in application forms and submit them to the Office of the Deam or Director of their faculty, school, or institute.
March 27-30 (Monday - Thursday):
Each candidate's eligibility is cheched.
Monday, April 10: Names of eligible candidates are announced throuhg publication in Billkent News and are posted within each faculty, school, or institute.
Monday, April 10 (9 a.m.): Election campaign begins.
Sunday , April 16 (5 p.m.): Election campaign ends.
Tuesday, April 18: Student Executive Committee elections. Counting of ballots.
Friday, April 21: Announcement of election results.
Monday, April 24: Student Executive Committee officers are elected. Each executive committee also nominates a candidate's name to the respective faculty, school, or institute.
Wednesday, April 26: Student Union Executive Board election.

To Be Eligible for Student Union Elections

Prospective candidates for the elections, to be held on Tuesday, April 18, are reminded that they must meet the following criteria to run for office.

  • All candidates must fill out an application form. Öğrenci Yönetim Kurulu Adaylık Başvuru Formu, which is avaliable through the Office of the Dean or the Director of each student's faculty, school, or institute.
  • All applications should be submitted in person to the office of each candidate's dean or director by 5 p.m., Thursday, March 23.

    Students are not eligible to run if:

  • They have been subject to disciplinary measures by the University or by state courts.
  • They have unpaid traffic or library fines.
  • They have already twice served in elected executive posts.
  • They are currently on probation or repeating a year (applicable only for Student Union Executive Board candidates).

Please note that all candidates must submit photos of themselves with their application. Because the same photos will be used to produce a special election issue of Bilkent news on Monday, April 10, photocopies are not acceptable. Black and white passport-type photos with good contrast are preferable.
