Gülban Kumru (BF-III) was the lucky person to have her name drawn from those of 2000 people who participated in the British Council's draw at Career Fair 2000. As her prize, she will attend a two-week course in Banking and Financial English at Oxford University, England this summer. During her stay, the British Council will also arrange for her to stay with an English host family.
Gülban has always admired the quality of the educational system in England and had already been planning to study for her Master's degree there. She thinks this opportunity will serve as the first step in her further education in England and she plans to take maximum advantage of it.
Having met a lot of people from around the world, Gülban looks forward to experiencing Oxford University's international milieu.
She also wants to take part in the social life of the university. She has already learned that there are jogging paths and a riding stable on campus!
Gülban is curious about the family she will be staying with. She says, "I am sure they are curious about me, too. I hope we'll be able to spend a lot of time together and share our cultures." Gülban adds, "I am so fortunate to get this great opportunity. I will also be representing Turkey and Bilkent."
