Children to Celebrate April 23rd at Bilkent

Bilkent University, in joint cooperation with Türkiye Eğitim Gönüllüleri Vakfı (TEGV), will play host to 40 children, aged 13-14, for the Children's Day holiday weekend. The university will provide dormitory accommodation and meals to the young guests for four days and three nights from Friday, April 21 to Monday, April 24. Bilkent will also supply transportation into and around the city so the children can tour Ankara and do some sightseeing. The children, who have never been to Ankara before, were specially selected for this event from different cities where TEGV operates...

Student to Go Abroad Via Career Fair

Gülban Kumru (BF-III) was the lucky person to have her name drawn from those of 2000 people who participated in the British Council's draw at Career Fair 2000. As her prize, she will attend a two-week course in Banking and Financial English at Oxford University, England this summer. During her stay, the British Council will also arrange for her to stay with an English host family...

Important Notices

  • All students who attended the New Student Orientation Program at the beginning of the academic year (September 24-27, 1999), collected the minimum required 10 stamps on their card, but have not yet handed it in, should take their card to the Registrar's Office for submission.

  • Students who do not have the required number of 10 stamps should get their cards stamped by attending any one of the seminars, conferences, presentations, or workshops held on campus every week (check 'This Week On Campus' in Bilkent News).

  • Students who have lost their cards should go to the Provost Office, Engineering Building, Room EA-G16 and get a card from Hale Pekel...

  • Bilkent Prof Wins Research Award

    Dr. Mustafa Pınar, an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering has placed second in the Robert Faure Competition organized by ROADEF, a French research organization. The competition was open to researchers under the age of 35 who are members of ROADEF. Entrants were required to submit all of their publications to a jury. Dr. Pınar says that the submitted research had to include an applied component to receive a high ranking from the jury...

    Web Page Design Winner Announced

    Barış Atiker, a fourth-year Graphic Design student, has been named the winner of the Medya Kulübü Web Page Design Competition. As part of his first prize he receives a weekend holiday for two in Kartalkaya or Capadoccia.

    The aim of the contest, which was open to Bilkent students, was to design a web page for Medya Kulübü. A total of 10 participants submitted entries, alone or in groups of two or three people. Pages were judged according to their design, content, special effects, and download speed...
