Mother Earth Cries for Help
For centuries, human beings thought nature was there to serve them, as if they were above the ecological chain, not in the chain, so they plundered, polluted and behaved unrestpectful to mother earth. This irresponsible behavior has to be changed to a responsible one in which a tree, or a drop of water is valued as a part of living nature.

Global warming, pollution, extinction of species, ozone depletion, toxic wastes and desertification are some of the environmental problems. In order to solve these huge issues first the individual environmental responsibility has to be built.

The Environmental Club of Bilkent aims to take small steps in the protection of the earth. Some of the planned activities are as follows:

  • To continue afforestation at Bilkent
  • To recycle paper and TetraPak boxes that are used in dormitories,
  • To collect used batteries for they are hazardous to environment.
  • To represent Bilkent at the competitions on environmental protection.
  • To provide connections with the other environmental groups such as; Greenpeace, Doğal Hayatı Koruma Derneği (Natural Life Preservation Group) and TEMA.
