Professor Erol Erdinç is the new Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (FMPA). He assumed his position on September 1 this year.
Professor Erdinç is well-known as the Conductor and Art Director of İstanbul Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası (İstanbul State Symphony Orchestra); a position Professor Erdinç took up in 1983 and carried on until September 2000.
As a student at the Ankara State Conservatory, Professor Erdinç worked with the famous Turkish composer Adnan Saygun, and later continued his studies with Pierre Pontier, Pierre Petit and Nadia Boulanger at Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris.
Professor Erdinç has conducted many famous orchestras in various countries and worked with many internationally recognized soloists. He has acted as a jury member in a number of international competitions in Canada, Belgium and Romania. Professor Erdinç has also made a number of CD recordings with well known orchestras including St. Petersburg, Sofia Radio Symphony, İstanbul Symphony, Ankara State Opera, and İstanbul Chamber Orchestra.
