Newcomers to be Welcomed with Orientation Program
Bilkent University has put together an orientation for all newcomers this year. During the orientation new students will not only be introduced to their departments, but also be informed about life at Bilkent University.

The orientation will start on September 22 with campus and city tours, movies and sports activities. It will continue between September 26 and 28 at various locations on campus including the ODEON, the library, the classrooms of the new building adjacent to the Faculty of Science, and the grounds of East Campus. Students will have the opportunity of attending two concerts (one classical by BASSO and one jazz by Kerem Görsev). There will be seminars and panels on various issues of interest, speeches, a Radio Bilkent on-air-party with an outdoor barbecue, movies, sports, and more. It is required that newcomers be able to use e-mail and library services immediately so that they are well-equipped to start their classes.

During the orientation, booths will be set up for the new students so that they can receive information about Student Clubs and the Student Union. There will be appetizing food stalls as well.

For international students, the International Center will arrange events such as tours (campus and city), seminars, and slide shows. The slide show will be on Turkey, and it will be followed by a presentation: Turkish Culture and Turkish Identity. The slide show and the presentation will be open to all international faculty and students.

If you are a veteran Bilkenter don't feel left out. Some of the events, such as the ones that take place in the ODEON are open to all Bilkenters. More information on the orientation will be found in the next week's issue.
