A Melodious Contribution to Bilkent Culture
An amateur chorus, the Classical Turkish Music Society, which was founded in 1998 under the leadership of Dr.Ümit Kilislioğlu from the Department of Mathematics, has started another active year.

Classical Turkish music was among the highest cultural achievements of Ottoman society for many centuries. Drawing upon a solid musical tradition distinct from Folk and various forms of Western music, it is still alive, popular, and highly resonant among Turkish people. Members of the Society get together in an atmosphere of education, entertainment, and jovial friendship. Although it is mainly for students, the Society is unique in that Bilkent administrators and academicians take part too.

This year, the Classical Turkish Music Society is planning several concerts as well as other musical gatherings which will be open to the public. Meetings of the Society are held weekly on Thursday between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Student Union Building, ZB-3. Come join the Society with your instrument, voice, or just for the fun of it as a listener and participant.
