Happy Birthday Turkish Republic
October 29, stands for the end of the theocratic Ottoman system and the start of the new republic in Turkish history. On October 29, 1923, Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi (Turkish Grand National Assembly) declared the country a republic and elected Mustafa Kemal as the "First President". Mustafa Kemal Pasha, the liberator of the country, proclaimed Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (The Republic of Turkey) on that day to make the nation "the state of the people".

Atatürk was aware that it was the future generations who would be the caretakers of this new republic. "This holy treasure I lay in the hands of the youth of Türkiye," said Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

We are now celebrating the 77th anniversary of the birth of the Republic. Happy Birthday Turkish Republic!
