IR Offers a New Masters Program
Prof. Ali Lütfi Karaosmanoðlu, Chair of the Department of International Relations A Masters degree in International Affairs and Public Policy (MIAPP) will be offered for the Fall Semester. The purpose of MIAPP is to develop international and European affairs experts and executives who can understand the increasingly complex problems of a rapidly changing world. It is designed to provide students with a broad analytical background in the major fields of international relations and European integration. Prof. Ali Lütfi Karaosmanoðlu, Chair of the Department of International Relations, says: “The program aims to provide students with updated knowledge and skills, both analytical and practical, in order to prepare them for careers in the international, private and public sectors. The program will also underline the significance of the newly emerging issues of governance and globalization.” The program’s approach is such that it incorporates both a scholarly perspective and practical experience.
The program of study requires 60 units of graduate credits, to be completed over four terms of full-time attendance, without the requirement of submission of a Masters thesis. A grade point average of at least 3.00 must be attained by the end of the Masters’ level work. The students will be offered as many elective courses as possible from the programs of various departments such as IR, MAN, ECON and POLS.
However, the MIAPP is not designed to prepare students for the Ph.D. program. Only a few of the top graduates can be admitted to the Ph.D. program if they fulfill the additional requirements of the International Relations Department. This is also the policy of such American Universities as Columbia University, where similar professional Master's programs exist.
MIAPP will be open to the graduates of all departments of all universities. For more information, please contact the Department of International Relations at ext. 1249 .
