|
Prof. Erinç Yeldan, Chair of the Department of Economics, has been nominated for the “Turkish Economy Award” by The North American Committee of Turkish Society Awards (KATTOK), headquartered in Chicago.
Dr. Mete Korkmaz, Head of KATTOK, stated that KATTOK is about to be recognized as a legal organization within the U.S. He also said that they will recognize and honor those who have worked for Turkey in the areas of science, politics, arts etc. Korkmaz stated that: “We intently scrutinize who will get our awards and evaluate the nominees on the basis of research, sponsorship, education and the promotion of Turkey. In this sense, we do not casually produce awards but do acknowledge real values.
Korkmaz stressed that Prof. Yeldan is a scientist researching on today’s Turkey and has managed to be on the list of the best 500 economists of the world. According to Korkmaz, intellectuals like Yeldan should be encouraged to boost their research in all branches of science.
Currently, KATTOK has accepted some of their award winners as honorary members. The Committee will come together to announce their results this coming Friday.
