From the Student Union

Dear Students,
During the first semester, a counselling committee consisting of ten club presidents was formed to help the Student Union and to increase interaction between the Student Union and Student Clubs. During the first term, the Student Union supported 109 Student Club organizations with a total of 10,000,000,000 TL. This term, the Student Union and Student Clubs began sharing the Logo of the Student Union for the first time. Also during the first term, the "Rooms for Clubs" campaign began. In the second term the Student Union is planning to focus on various problems related to the clubs. With a new computer-based system, memberships to all clubs will be available online. In order to make this possible, a web site including a database program was developed and presented to 59 clubs to try out. Moreover with this new system, students will be able to express their problems and concerns as well as their comments via the Internet.

Another project named the “Toplumsal Duyarlılık Projesi” (Social Awareness Project) is the first community service project soley arranged by students organizations at Turkish universities. The project has now been conducted and successfully completed. The “Social Awareness Project” is a voluntary community service project consisting of 8 elementary schools, Seyranbağları and several other social centers. 250 volunteer students took part in the project and helped over 2000 people.
Detailed information about the activities and the future plans of the Student Union will be presented in a forum on Thursday, March 14, attended by the Student Union Executive Committee members and several club presidents. All Bilkenters are also welcome to attend.

Oğuzhan Yıldız
Vice President , Student Union
