On September 26th the University organized a program to celebrate the birth date of the Turkish Language, which opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Sadık Kemal Tural, Atatürk Kültür, Dil ve Tarih Yüksek Kurumu Başkanı. The program also included a panel discussion entitled “Bilişim Çağı ve Bilim Dili Olarak Türkçe". Panelists were Prof. Dr. Haluk Şükrü, Prof. Dr. Mehman Musaoğlu, and Dr. Rasim Özyürek.
The panelists presented their views on topics as wide-ranging as the improvement and enrichment of the Turkish language, the history of the Turkish language, the relationship between Turkish and other languages, the Turkish language and the language of the internet, and the strengthening of the Turkish language in science-related areas.
The celebration program continued with a speech entitled "Cultural Horizons" delivered by Prof. Talat Halman, Chair of the Department of Turkish Literature, and closed with a speech by the Rector of the Unviersity, Prof. Ali Doðramacı.
