Professor Talat Halman Honored with “Festschrift”
Professor Talat S. Halman, Founding Chairman of the
Department of Turkish Literature and Director of the Center for
Turkish Literature at Bilkent University, was honored with a two
volume (825 page) Festschrift (Armağan Kitabı) on Saturday, 15
September, at the Four Seasons Hotel in İstanbul. This publication
entitled Cultural Horizons pays tribute to the extraordinary
achievements of Professor Halman throughout this multifaceted
career...
Tribeca Café Opens in New Dormitory
"Bagel with cream cheese and coffee
to go," sounds like a sentence you might hear in any city in America,
but you can now hear the same at Bilkent. Tribeca Café started serving
its customers on September 27 in the new dormitory (70), offering
other American food specialties as well.

Bilkent Celebrates Birth of
Turkish Language
On September 26th the University organized a
program to celebrate the birth date of the Turkish Language, which
opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Sadık Kemal Tural, Atatürk Kültür,
Dil ve Tarih Yüksek Kurumu Başkanı. The program also included a panel
discussion entitled “Bilişim Çağı ve Bilim Dili Olarak Türkçe".
Panelists were Prof. Dr. Haluk Şükrü, Prof. Dr. Mehman Musaoğlu, and
Dr. Rasim Özyürek.
