Recycle Now!

Have you been wondering what those new green boxes with the red roofs are? They are Bilkent's way of helping the environment by reducing waste.
Thirty boxes are located in various places on the campus. Within which, there are bins for cans, plastics, paper and glass. All unsoiled paper is recyclable, including glossy, colored paper and cardboard. All empty glass containers are acceptable, colored and clear. Plastic bottles with the recycling symbol are also acceptable. The bottles must be empty of contents, and preferably squeezed. Tin cans must also be empty before placing in the bins, and flattened if possible. In addition to the bins in the mini warehouses, paper will continue to be collected in dormitories and in all academic and administrative offices.
The Support Services Office is responsible for overseeing the recycling project and also collects printer cartridges and batteries. Just last semester, 40 tons of paper were collected. In environmental terms, Bilkent saved 680 trees! For more information about the recycling project at Bilkent visit www.bilkent.edu.tr/~cevre.
