Gain Power Via Knowledge

Information Age, globalization, networking, information flow, news network, e-mails are only a few buzz words of our times. Everywhere we turn we find some message of an interest be it on the bulletin boards, or sent by an e-mail, or pupping up in our mobile phones.
In the hussle and bussle of our daily routines that kind of an information flow can be mind-boggling. However, you cannot stay away from it and keep yourselves in isolation either. Checking your e-mails regularly, glancing at the headlines of a newspaper at the internet newsportals, wondering What's On at the university homepage, reading Bilkent News, and scanning through the department bulletin boards may provide invaluable information and opportunity for your future career, or for a weekend entertainment, or an important intellectual activity during the week.
As Francis Bacon (1561-1626) said centuries ago, "Knowledge itself is power." The power that comes from knowledge is gained through networking in this day and age. Unless you are part of that networking and information hunting you stay behind in the race.
Here are some clues to equip yourself with salient information about what's going on in the university:

check your e-mails a few times a day
check What's On at Bilkent University homepage once every few days
take a look at Bilkent News on weekly basis
check department bulletin boards on regular basis

Do not forget: only you know what is of interest to you, and go check it out!
