Dear Editor,
In courses related to economics or management at Bilkent, instructors usually prefer to use the dollar as the unit of money in their in-class examples or exam questions.
Since Turkey is a developing country and hopes to achieve progress in its economy and standard of living, I think instructors should give more importance to the Turkish Lira. If the number of zeroes in quantities leads them not to use the TL, why not simply use mTL denoting a million TL and bTL denoting a billion TL, which is already the case when dealing with many economics problems involving huge amounts of dollars?
Yours Sincerely,
Süleyman Demirel (IE/III)
