Ready, Set, “Go”
|
Do you know what Go is? This game has been featured prominently in recent movies such as "Pi" and
"A Beautiful Mind". It is, however, an ancient game, first played in China some 4000 years ago. Some people say it is the oldest game still played in its original form. Today it is enjoyed by over 25 million people in more than 30 countries around the world.
Go is a board game for two players. The rules are very simple, and can be learned in a matter of minutes. This game has a creative aspect missing from other games whose principal object is to destroy or conquer.
You can't make progress in Go simply through rote memorization or cramming. It is more a matter of creativity; Go encourages you to express that creativity freely and constructively.
The first meeting of the Go club for the fall semester is on Thursday, October 3 at 5:50 p.m. at the Student Union Building room ZB-3. Do not hesitate to join us even if you have never played.
