First Aid Saves a Life

Fatih Kıvrak, a member of the security staff at Bilkent for 12 years, saved the life of a woman thanks to the training he received from a First Aid Course that he took at the Health Center. He attended the 3-day First Aid Course about two months ago as an extension of his occupational education.
On the day of the tragic accident, Fatih Kıvrak was a passenger on the Fatih-Gülveren train. As one of the trains passed by, he realized that a woman had fallen and severed her arm, and was crying for help. Kıvrak realized that none of the trained professionals were trying to assist the injured woman so he took it upon himself to save her life. While many people gathered around the injured woman, Kıvrak helped her calmly with the techniques that he learned at the First Aid Course.
The ambulance arrived late to the scene, but thanks to the first aid methods that Kıvrak used, the injured woman did not lose consciousness and the doctors were able to save the arm and the life of the woman. After a successful operation, she can move her arm, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
