There are More Than Books at the Library!

Did you know that there are rooms in the library where you can listen to music, or that you can check out DVD's from the library? The Bilkent University Library provides Bilkenters not only with books, journals and magazines, but also has considerable audio-visual resources.
The audio-visual collection is located in the basement of Block A. The collection includes video-cassettes (VHS and Beta), audio-cassettes (especially for language learning purposes), VCD and DVDs of the latest films, floppy discs, CD-ROMs and microfilms. Users may borrow CDs, copy floppy discs (as an anti-virus protection), search the microfilm archive, and print documents. The library also has special rooms for watching visual materials, and one is suitable for course activities, seating about 20 people. In order to reserve one of these rooms you can make an appointment by calling ext. 2686. The Audio Visual Section of the Library is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.
The audio-visual collection also includes materials for visually impaired students. These rooms are specially designed and contain computers loaded with the “Oku” software program, printers that can print in Braille, and special scanners.
The library’s music rooms, finally, are located on the third floor of Block B. You can choose music CD’s from the Library archive or bring your own CD’s to play.
Don’t wait for midterm or final exams to visit the library!
